Ginger and Turmeric pickle

Fresh ginger and fresh turmeric in this season is such a blessing. Both of them helps keep the cold away. One of the amazing qualities of ginger is that it stimulates digestion and fresh ginger is an anti-inflammatory. Ginger breaks up congestion, improves circulation and burns ama (toxins).

Serves 10

  • 4 inch Fresh Ginger
  • 4 inch fresh turmeric root (available at Indian grocery stores) looks similar to ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
  • 1/8 teaspoon Green chilies
  • 1 Lime
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  1. Mix all the spices in water and make a thick paste. Do not add too much water. Take oil in a pan , add this spices mixture to it. Saute it till the aroma is released and before the spices turn brown. Stop cooking it on stove. Add sliced ginger and sliced turmeric root into this mixture.Mix it well and serve it with curry and rotis or rice and dal.
